Erosion Control Crew

Erosion Control Crew Have you noticed erosion caused by wave action, storm events, or foot traffic paths on your property?

If so, the ASYCC Erosion Contol Crew (ECC) can help you with no charge from our crew labor!!

Each year the ECC completes conservation projects on properties within Goose Pond, Loon Pond, Mousam Lake, and Square Pond. Think you might have a erosion problem? Contact us for a technical visit and site report.

The Erosion Control Crew (ECC) is a paid group of local high school and college aged students working under the direction of a crew leader. The crew works together to install conservation projects around Goose Pond, Loon Pond, Mousam Lake, and Square Pond. These conservation projects are for landowners, business owners, and municipalities who request the services of the ECC.

Our Program Director meets with the requester, develops a plan that is then approved by the landowner, and then helps with the setup and approval of any necessary permits. As an added benefit, any ASYCC ECC project submitted to the Maine DEP through the Survey 123 system - has the $288 Maine DEP Permit By Rule fee waived. The local town permit fees are also waived for ASYCC ECC projects. The Best Management Practices (BMP) installation labor by our ECC crew is provided at no cost.

The property owner pays a $50 consult fee for our Program Directors time to meet with you and develop a site plan and permit setup. It the owner decides to go forward with the ECC project, the $50 consult fee is applied towards a $150 agreement fee that covers the ASYCC overhead for a summer truck or van rental and tools/equipment. The property owner is also required to supply the project materials (mulch, stone, plants, etc. defined in the site plan).

The ECC is funded by the towns of Acton and Shapleigh, Mousam Lake Regions Association, Square Pond Improvement Association, State Grants, and private donations.
